When you think of fruit picking in Bilpin, one place that stands out is TNT Pick Your Own Produce. It's our absolute favourite orchard and we’ve been going for years. For just $10 per adult and $7.50 for kids (under 3’s are free!), you get to spend a delightful day picking some of the freshest, most delicious produce right off the tree.
What Can You Pick?
The variety of fruits and vegetables at TNT Pick Your Own Produce is amazing! On our visit, we picked everything from juicy peaches, nectarines, and plums, to cucumbers, zucchinis, eggplants, and even chillies. The kids were beyond excited as they searched for hidden strawberries under the leaves and reached up on to their tippy toes to pick the juiciest plums. The orchard truly felt like a treasure hunt for the kids, with every corner revealing something new and exciting.
We also had the chance to meet some of the friendly farm animals. The kids loved seeing the animals pop their heads over the fence to nibble on some straw – a lovely bonus to the day!
A Lesson in Where Our Food Comes From
One of the things I love most about fruit picking is how it gives my kids a real understanding of where their food comes from. My little ones, who can be quite picky at times, were suddenly eager to try the fresh fruits and vegetables they’d picked themselves. Plus, the abundance of produce meant we left with enough to fill their lunchboxes for the next few weeks. That’s crunch and sip sorted for a while and a big win for this Mum!
Take a Break at the Orchard Café
After a good hour of exploring the orchard, we headed to the on-site café for a well deserved treat. When you’re in Bilpin, you absolutely must try their homemade apple pie. It's the perfect way to end a day of fruit picking. The café also serves a great selection of food, from hearty burgers and schnitzels to fish and chips, pies, and sausage rolls.

To make sure you have the best experience possible, here are some of my top tips for fruit picking in Bilpin:
Check for Updates: Always check TNT’s Facebook page before you go for the latest info on opening days, times, and what’s in season for fruit picking.
Dress Accordingly: The orchard can get a little muddy, especially after it rains. Make sure to wear old shoes or gumboots.
Pick Wisely: Produce is charged by weight when you leave, so be sure to pick wisely. Unless, of course, you're planning to take home a massive haul of fresh fruit and veggies!
Beat the Crowds: Arrive early to get a head start before the crowds roll in. If you're staying locally, it’s a great opportunity to maximise your time in the orchard and avoid the weekend traffic.
Stay at Dido’s Place: For a truly relaxing experience, I recommend staying at Dido’s Place, just a short scenic drive away. With a fully equipped kitchen, you can whip up something delicious with your freshly picked produce. Why not try making your own apple pie or a juicy peach tart?
