The Old Shed Distillery
If you're looking for a relaxing stop after a big day of outdoor fun, I’ve got just the place for you! On our recent weekend adventure in Bilpin, we discovered a hidden gem that’s quickly become a favourite of ours – The Old Shed Distillery.
Where is The Old Shed Distillery?
Nestled just beyond Bilpin Cider at 2419 Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, you’ll find a beautifully restored Australian heritage-listed shed, which once served as a sawmill, an apple sorting and honey extraction facility. Today, it’s home to a family-run distillery, crafting small-batch gin, vodka, whisky and citrus-cello using local apples, blueberries and native botanicals.
What We Loved at The Old Shed Distillery
The Old Shed Distillery has quickly become one of our favourite stops when visiting Bilpin or passing back down the mountain from one of our day trips to the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and more recently, Oberon. As gin and vodka lovers, we couldn’t wait to sample their range of spirits and we weren’t disappointed! Their gin and vodka are light, refreshing and packed with local flavours. We highly recommend their accompanying Sodasmith Mixers too. Yum!
While we savoured our drinks, the kids were very happily occupied. They loved the raspberry snow cones on offer and had a blast climbing into a vintage Land Rover! It was the perfect balance—Mum and Dad got to relax after a big day out, while the kids had a fun time exploring.
A Special Treat for Our Guests at Dido’s Place

Pro Tips for a Visit to the Old Shed Distillery
Here’s what we recommend to make the most of your visit to the Old Shed Distillery:
Opening Times: The distillery is open Friday through Sunday, from 11 AM to 7 PM, so it’s a great stop after a day of exploring the area. Hours are subject to change, so please check out Google for their most up to date trading times.
Menu: The menu comprises of gin, vodka, citrus-cello and occasionally, their whisky. If you’re not into spirits, they also have a lovely wine selection from Mclaren Vale, tool shed pale and Berambing Lager on tap and of course, snow cones for the kids. If you’re after some nibblies, they have their Distillery Charcuterie board, chilli sauce with corn chips and our kid’s favourite, toasted flatbread with dips.
Take a Bottle (or Two) Home: Don’t forget to grab a bottle of your favourite gin, vodka or whisky to enjoy back at Dido’s Place or to take home as a souvenir from the Hawkesbury!
